The Queen of Garage Sales and Thrift Store Shopping

Hey Guys!!
So last week was another busy week around the house! More progress was made and I'll be sharing that with you all very soon! But today I wanted to do something a bit different. This past weekend we took a trip to TN to visit some of my most favorite people in the whole world! My great Aunt and Uncle, who were really always more like grandparents to me! We got to spend some wonderful time with them and catch up on life! So thankful for that much needed time together!

While there, I asked her if it would be ok to photograph her home. Ya'll, this is where I first fell in love with home decor! Growing up, I can remember coming into Aunt Jean's house to visit, and going around scoping out all her newest treasures that she had added to her decor! It was always different! She had some many beautiful things everywhere! So going back there this weekend was just the same, I loved walking through and checking out all the "pretties". And when you ask her where all the goodies came from, it's always the same answer.... "oh just a garage sale" or "I found it as some thrift store." This lady is the queen of garage sales and thrift store shopping!!! She can find the absolute best stuff!!! As a kid that was one of my favorite things we got to go and do together! It was always a treat to go visit, and on Saturday mornings I would go with her to garage sales and see what we could find!! So of course this weekend we had to hit up a few thrift stores, and I was able to pick up couple of small things for the new house!

Aunt Jean has a great style and her home is beautiful and I just wanted to share a few pics with you all!!

This room is my favorite!!! It has great light, and such a cozy, inviting space! Just look at this gorgeous furniture! It belonged to my great-grandmother! These pieces have always been my favorite!

My great-grandmother did all this needle-point for these pillows.

I love this little corner set-up. Isn't that picture the sweetest! It was taken back in the early days of their marriage! They just recently celebrated 66 years!

So her full name is Norma Jean, how cool that she found this picture at a local thrift store!!

She has several of these vintage framed posters throughout the house, and they add such fun to the space! Who knew how much character Vogue could add to your living room!

This antique high chair is so cute in the dining room and great for holding cookbooks! Of course it also came from a thrift store!!

This Gathering Room sign was always a favorite, and what inspired the one I made for our living room several years ago.

Here are just a few more shots of pretty....

I hope you enjoyed a little mini-tour of Aunt Jean's house, and I'm thankful to her for allowing me to share it with you all!!

Living Room Update (and a little spring decor)

This living room space wasn't the easiest layout to design. Its open, but not very large. It really only has one solid wall. There are so many openings, doors, stairs...  I knew going into designing this space, I was really going to have to think through the layout. And its far from done! I like to play, and move things around often, so its likely to not stay this way for too very long. We still have plans to change the stair railing, add some type of architectural pieces going up the stair wall, and I'm on the hunt for the perfect rug for the space! But as promised, I'm hear to show you our progress, not just our completion! Everything has been freshly painted in Sherwin Williams Useful Grey. And the trim is done in Extra White. Let's look back at what we started with! And this is where we are now. Before  And after. What a difference some paint and accessories can make! Its all slowly coming together!  In add...

"Before" House Tour (part 1)

Hey guys! Thanks for all the sweet comments about us buying the new house! Your enthusiasm was appreciated! If you don't know how this flipper house came to be, you can click  here  to read the full story!  We were able to get some work done over the weekend and its fun to start seeing things happening! We got all the old kitchen countertops removed and ripped off all the old backsplash. Who knew that could be so therapeutic, but swinging that hammer really relieved some stress! Our painter started as well and I cant wait to get over there and see his progress! Paint can make all the difference in the world! Ok, so before I get too far ahead, I did want to show you guys the inside pictures!  I snapped quite a few and don't want to overload you all, so decided to break this up into two posts. Today I'll show you the main level and a few more of the outside! Let's get started! We definitely plan to have the outside painted, its a pretty house ...

"Before" House Tour (part 2)

Here we go guys, I'm back for part 2 of our "before" house tour! There were just too many pics to cram all into one post, so today we are covering the basement and the upstairs. If you missed part 1 of our tour, you can click  here . I won't bore you with a bunch of rambling, let's just get on with the tour! So right off the kitchen are the stairs leading down to the basement I didn't snap a picture with the stairs in it, but they are on that left wall there, right across from the playroom door. Here is what is going to be our school room/playroom. I'm super excited about finally having a designated room for our homeschooling! I am envisioning a fun color, and some built in desks for the kiddos. And then some great storage for the bazzilion toys my children own! There will also be new flooring in this room! That open door there leads to this full bathroom. This space is starting off with fresh paint, and then eventually a new va...
