New Front Door

Hey Guys!!
First off, I just wanted to thank you all for your interest in what we are doing over here in this fixer upper of ours! I kinda got a wake up call last week, when I was asked on MANY occasions about how things at the house were coming along. As well as being asked when I was going to post more! I realized that people are reading and keeping up more than I expected! So the fact that you guys care is awesome!! I promise to strive to be more consistent with posting here on the blog. Sometimes life gets sooooo full and schedules are so busy, and I have put this on the back burner. But its something I love and get excited about, and the fact that you are all following along makes me even more excited! Another thing I've had to tell myself is, that I can't wait till things are "completed" to do an update! When I look around here, I feel that sooooo much is left to be done, and no single room feels completely finished yet. But that's ok! We are living in the home that we are remodeling...its just part of it! And as long as you guys know that all the pics wont be "pretty", and we are all understanding that it just takes time to get to the finish line, then I promise to start showing more "along the way" pics! This is a judgment free zone right??

Ok, so enough of my rambling! I'm here today to show off our wonderful new front door!!! Aside from about 164 other things that I want to get done outside, the front door was definitely one of the first changes that had to happen!!! To me that old door really stood out...and not in a good way!! It was like totally the wrong shoes with the outfit, ya know!! I wanted a door that you wanted to walk right up to and come on in! A solid wood door was exactly what this house needed! And of course new hardware (what's new shoes without some new earrings to go along!)

So let me just remind you guys of how the old door looked!

So this door had definitely seen better days! And so had that mismatched hardware!

We ordered our new door from Home Depot. It is made by Krosswood Doors and it's unfinished Knotty Alder. You can find it HERE.

This is how it looked when we first hung it.

I mixed two different stains to get the color I really wanted, Espresso and Dark Walnut, by Minwax. And this is how she looks now!

Isn't she just so pretty! I couldn't be more pleased with how the stain color turned out. And I love the new hardware (also purchased from Home Depot).

Like I said before, our outside "to-do" list is just as long as the inside one! But this was a great start! Changing the front door felt like it changed the whole front of the house! I am still impatiently waiting for when we can get the entire exterior of the home painted, man is it going to pop then! For now, I will just enjoy looking at this new accessory and being thankful for each step forward we take, getting a little closer to the finish line each time!

Our Interior Paint Colors

We are officially moved into the house guys!!! Life has felt like a whirlwind the last couple of weeks!! We are trying to get back into normal routine and settle down a bit! ( is this really possible with 3 kiddos, 2 jobs, and living in a fixer upper??)   I have so many things I want to catch you guys up on, but today is all about the paint colors we chose for the interior!! So unless you have been living under a rock, then you all know Chip and Joanna Gaines. Aside from their great show on HGTV, they also have a full line of products including home decor, clothing, accessories...Well recently they partnered with Kilz and launched a paint line!! I've been anxious to try the colors and now was my perfect chance!! One awesome thing they offer are these peel and stick samples! Since its so hard to pick a color from a computer screen, you can order these samples that are about  9x11" in size and they stick to your wall.  You can really get a better effect of how the color

Easy Drop Cloth Curtains and DIY Hardware

So almost all the windows in my house are feeling like rock stars with their Plantation Shutters. You can open them up and let the light pour in, which is always my preference. Or/ if you are feeling like shutting out the world, you can do that too. I mean, the windows that have the shutters definitely have more cool points! And I am so thankful that this house already had all those cool points on MOST of the windows..... And then there's the windows in the dining room. These three girls are feeling like Plain Jane's at the party. For some reason, they were not in the line when the house was handing out shutters. So there they are, totally lacking accessories. It just wasn't fair! I decided they needed some special attention! I made a quick trip to Lowes and had everything I needed for my window makeover! Enter the Drop Cloths! These have so many more uses than just catching paint splatters! The possibilities for these babies are endless, some options being/ pill
